The American Legion in Shinnston has teamed up with the Clarksburg VA to help veterans in our area.
The Legion has set up a Veteran's Crisis Center in Shinnston to help veterans with healthcare service, benefit claims, and even grief counseling.
These crisis centers have been held in many cities across the nation to help veterans receive the care they need, in light of the VA scandal a few months ago.
“What out main objective is, is to ensure that the veterans who feel like they haven't received the benefits that they've earned, end up coming in here and get the benefits, whether it's disability compensation, or a health care enrollment, and let's try to have veterans understand what's really going on and make sure that they get the type of treatment that they deserve,” said Zachary Hearn, the American Legion's Deputy Director for Claims.
The Crisis Center is available to veterans on a walk-in basis, and runs Tuesday until 8 p.m., and Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
