Some people who live in downtown Clarksburg were surprised when they woke up this morning to find their homes and cars with spray painted profanities and racial slurs.

Police said sometime after midnight Friday night, two people vandalized property on E.B. Saunders Way and on several other roads off of Clay Street. Officials say a man and a woman in their late 20's or early 30's were responsible. The two were caught, but police haven't told us their names. Victims of this crime said they were shocked that something like this happened, but they're happy the people were caught.
"A little bit surprised because in the past, I've been coming here for many years and there have never been any incidents like this that I'm aware of. So i was a little surprised that something like this would happen. Normally it's a neighborhood where things like this don't happen," said Mark Mosley, visitor from North Carolina for Easter.
The Clarksburg Police Department is handling this investigation.
