The spring weather not only has people out enjoying their day, but it has some spending time volunteering in their community.
People in one town in particular spent their day doing some much needed spring cleaning. So, the next time you visit Shinnston, you may notice stores with spring decorations and even cleaner streets.
Volunteers from the town of Shinnston came out early Saturday morning to help clean up the streets. Officials hope better looking streets will attract people from all over to see what the small town is all about. Everyone from sixth graders to senior citizens helped with the effort. Even the mayor strapped on his boots and joined the crew.
"What we were trying to do was clean the downtown area, spruce it up a little bit to help lead in to our shop local campaign next week."
DeMarco said the cleanup was successful and hopes this will encourage other people to keep the town clean.
