$7.5 million. That's the amount of money the WVU College of Law received from the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust.

Officials with WVU announced the gift Tuesday morning. It's the largest capital gift in the law school's history.

The donation will help fund renovation projects that are already underway and pay for 20,000 square feet of new classrooms.

Joyce McConnell, the dean of the College of Law, said they money will help students who already provide legal services.

"This will provide them the space to create a law office," McConnell said. "It will allow them to practice law as if they are in an actual law office."

The new wing of the College of Law should be finished in 18 months.
