Diversity week is officially underway at WVU. A week long celebration of all of our differences kicked off on Monday afternoon.
Together students and faculty shouted, "There's a place for you at WVU." Each of the 40 events planned will help to promote acceptance of everyone.
School officials are saying it's important they celebrate diversity because Mountaineers need to lead by example.
WVU Chief Diversity Officer David Fryson said, "We're hoping the type of things we do here will spur the rest of the state to see the value of diversity. So often when you think about diversity you think about our differences, but diversity is the collection of similarities and differences."
Diversity week will wrap up on Friday afternoon.
Oct 22, 2013 at 6:12 AMYeah there's a place for you at WVU; the party school of the nation. If you really want to learn though; it appears you should go elsewhere.
By the way....why don't they look at ways we as a nation, as a people living in a free nation seek out the ways we are the SAME; diversity is DIVISION and DIVISION is what the problem in this country is at this time. Always wanting to 'divide.' They have this all backwards, but then again, this current bunch in DC is all about DIVIDING people; chaos ensues and obviously some groups like that. In the end, don't people all want the same things? A good job, a home, family, education, etc??? So wheres the 'division?'
