MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University Libraries is getting a collection of books, films, and an online database intended to introduce the public to Islamic culture.
The university's libraries are among 843 institutions across the country receiving the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf. It's part of the National Endowment for the Humanities' Bridging Cultures Initiative.
Officials at the Morgantown school hope the collection will help those who have questions about Islam and the Muslim community.
The Charleston Gazette reports that the libraries will receive 25 books, three documentaries, a DVD of short films, and a subscription to Oxford Islamic Studies Online.
The books and DVDs are being added to the circulating collection and all students, faculty and staff can check them out. Members of the public can visit the main library to use them.
