BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (AP) - Officials with the Corhart Refractories plant in Buckhannon say up to 64 of the plant's 150 employees will be temporarily laid off starting July 1.
Corhart makes refractory products for the glass industry. Spokesman Bill Seiberlich of parent company Saint-Gobain SEFPRO says demand for some products in the industry has declined recently.
Seiberlich told The Inter-Mountain that the layoffs will be done in stages and aren't expected to be permanent. There's no timetable on when the laid-off workers would return to their jobs, but he says it will be determined as business conditions improve.
The Corhart plant marked its 50th year of operations in Buckhannon in January 2012.
