The new council in Salem had their first meeting Tuesday evening since the election in June. One of the main topics was the water line replacement project.
During the meeting the council decided to pay for materials for the water line replacement project.
The project will be done by Stonegate, and it's expected to cost $1.3 million.
It should start on Monday at Upper Dog Run Road and is expected to be finished in December.
"Very grateful of that small city grant project. We are very happy that this is moving forward," said Salem Mayor Bobby Samples.
Rain did not help matters where the council held their meeting as rain leaked into the building. On-going roof repairs are continuing and are expected to be finished soon, weather permitting.
