West Virginia Wesleyan College is making an exciting new addition. They're getting a marching band.

Beginning in the fall of next year, they'll be adding it as an elective on campus. The college is in the process of hiring a full time director to lead the band.

They've already started recruiting more than 35 new freshmen members to join. College officials said they're very excited. They think it'll be a great addition not only for students, but for the community as well. Students said they're looking forward to seeing the band in action next fall.

WVWC student Sarah Phillips said, "I feel like adding a marching band would be really good for the school. It might bring more people to the games that way. It would make it more fun to watch, like having a half-time show."

The band will be re-added after more than a 35 year long absence.
