A Marion County woman pleaded guilty in the overdose death of her two-year-old daughter on Thursday

Brittany Edgell, 24, was arrested in April after her daughter ate prescription pills while Edgell was asleep. She was not taken to the hospital and died a few hours later.

On Thursday, Edgell told the judge that instead of calling 911, she took the matter into her own hands because she thought her daughter would be OK. Edgell now faces a possible sentence of 3 to 15 years in prison. She could also be fined up to $5,000.
