The town of Worthington in Marion County has been working to annex several businesses that sit just outside the city limits.
A public hearing on the annexation was supposed to happen Wednesday at the county commission meeting, but because of problems in public postings, it had to be postponed. Worthington hopes to include those businesses in their city limits, to offer police and fire protection to them. First, the move does need public approval, plus approval from the commission.
"They have to appeal to the county commission to be annexed in to the city of Worthington, and then we'll listen to the pros and cons and see if anybody's for it or against it, and then we'll make a decision in the public hearing on April 23rd," said Burley "Butch" Tennant Jr., commission president.
The public hearing for the Worthington annex will now be held on the April 23rd meeting at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
