Three people are dead, their bodies are at the medical examiner's office, and investigators are trying to find answers to their questions after a fire on Crooked Run in Lewis County that happened sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Investigators haven't released names of the victims just yet but community members said they know who they are. The State Fire Marshal's Office would only confirm that a 32-year-old mother, her 5-year-old son and her 3-year-old daughter were the victims. The woman's husband was the one who supposedly found the burned out barn on Monday morning.
He called investigators and told them he thought the three were dead in the barn. There had never been a 911 report about the burning barn in Alum Bridge.
Limited information has been released about the events that happened. Investigators believe the fire started sometime between 7:30 Sunday evening and 7:30 Monday morning. Everything else was still under investigation.
None of the neighbors saw the fire but word spread quickly about the deaths. Everyone was shocked to hear of it in the small community of Alum Bridge, which is about 10 miles outside of Weston.
"Well it was devastating. I don't even want to leave the holler now. It's the first time for this here. Scary. I have children and it's disgusting," said Alum Creek resident Joel Bishop.
