Officials told 5 News the boy was hit by his mother. Investigators said the boy got out of the car without the mother knowing and sat on the ground. The woman then got in the car and drove away, running over her child. The mother only went a few feet when she realized and got her son from under the bumper. Officials said the boy was in serious condition Tuesday night, but they don't think it's life threatening. Police are still investigating, so stay with 5 News for more updates.
Update (8:45 p.m.):
A young boy had to flown to the hospital after apparently getting by a car at a gas station in Harrison County on Tuesday night.
Investigators told 5 News that accident happened just before 7 p.m. at the Go-Mart off of West Main Street in Bridgeport. That's when the driver apparently struck the young boy with a gray Volvo.
Detectives said that due to the weather, emergency officials drove the boy to Fairmont where he was then flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
There was no word on his condition Tuesday night.
Orginial Story (7:30 p.m.):
Crews are on scene of an auto-pedestrian accident in Bridgeport. The crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Go Mart on West Main Street.
A child was hit by a car and had to be flown to the hospital by HealthNet.
