5 NEWS UPDATE: Police Identify Driver Involved in Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Accident

Police have identified the driver involved in a fatal auto-pedestrian accident in Morgantown Monday night. 
 
According to police, 24-year-old Levi Sooy was driving north on high street when he failed to see 79-year-old James McClain and hit him while he was crossing the street. 
 
McClain died on scene. Sooy has submitted blood samples for forensic testing. 
 
Traffic Reconstruction Officers and Detectives responded to the scene of the accident and began the initial investigation. Witnesses were identified and their statements were taken at the time of the crash. The vehicle was impounded for examination.
 
Officers are currently awaiting the results of forensic testing and plan on consulting with the Monongalia County Prosecutors Office upon completion of the investigation. If anyone has any information concerning it they should contact the Morgantown Police Department at (304) 284-7522.
