Folks all over the area could see flooding on Monday night.

If you're looking to get flood insurance to protect your property you might be out of luck.

Kathy Jencks, with Insurance Centers in Morgantown, told 5 News there's a 30 day period from the time you apply for a policy until the time you're covered. She said that gives insurance agencies time to survey your property and see the likelihood you'll be hit by a flood.

Jencks also mentioned that flood insurance is typically required by most banks if you live in a flood prone area.

Flood insurance in the Mountain State usually costs $600 a year.

"You can write it to cover the dwelling and you can also write it to cover the contents in the basement," Jencks said.
