Many folks reply on local fire departments when they have an emergency like a fire, car wreck, or natural disaster.
But, it takes a lot of money to keep those departments up and running.
That's why some local firefighters are asking for your help with their upcoming fundraiser.
The Buckhannon Fire Department is hosting it's annual prize bash on October 13th.
They, like many other volunteer departments, use money from these fundraisers to keep their doors open.
"It's important because we have a lot of operating costs, and generally we don't earmark this money for anything special, but in the past it's helped us get the guys some advanced training and pay for them to go some places and take some classes or purchase some equipment we may not usually purchase," said Firefighter 1st Class, Joey Baxa of the Buckhannon Fire Department.
If you'd like to help them out, the prize bash is on October 13th at the Buckhannon Fire Department from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be guns, grills, and other prizes you can win.
Tickets are $25 if you want to be entered into the drawings, $5 to get through the door.
You can get tickets at the fire department or at the event.
