The North Central Regional Airport usually needs to see 10,000 people get on their planes every year to get some funding. This year, they're asking for a waiver to get around that.
The airport only had about 7,000 enplanements so far this year and it's highly unlikely that they would get 3,000 more by December. When they reach 10,000 they're eligible to receive $1,000,000 in Airport Improvement Program funding. Otherwise, they're only able to get $150,000.
The airport will file a waiver asking them to still be considered for the million. They plan to tell the FAA they had problems reaching that number because of the change in airline carriers and the runway being paved.
