After four day, crews are still trying to find the missing mine employee who's believed to be submerged in a slurry pond after Friday's accident.
CONSOL Energy officials plan to give a technical report Wednesday about the recovery plans and updates. Earlier this week, they said they agreed to a recovery plan on Sunday and have been following it to try to find the missing employee who went into the Robinson Run Preparation Plant slurry around noon on Friday.
On Monday, the Charleston Gazette reported that crews were using metal rods to try to reach the bull dozer, which is believed to be about 25 to 30 feet below the surface. If they find it, they plan to mark off that area and isolate the machine until plans are in place to get it out of the slurry. Barges are being brought in to the area and MSHA's mobile command is on scene.
CONSOL is working along with MSHA and other state and federal agencies to find the missing employee. The worker fell into the pond with the bull dozer, two other employees and two pick up trucks when a refuse embankment gave way. The other two employees are recovering.
