Fairmont General Hospital Still Searching for Strategic Partner

Fairmont General Hospital has been looking for a strategic partner since the beginning of the year, but so far they haven't had any luck. FGH and West Virginia United Health System did have an exclusive agreement with one another, but that has since expired.

Since January, Fairmont General officials have talked with a number of potential partners and they say those talks continue.
Originally, they were hoping this process would have been finished by June, but officials say the exclusivity process may have set them back.
"Larger institutions will be the key survivers in that new environment. As a stand alone hospital, we don't believe that's where we need to be for the future," said Robert Marquardt, President & CEO Fairmont General Hospital.

Even though the exclusivity agreement has expired, FGH officials say they did get an offer from WVUHS, but haven't accepted or denied it.
