Clarksburg was full of people to join in for the 150th celebration of our state. The actual birthday isn't until June, but Harrison county just wanted to get a little head start.
Officials kicked off the celebration right in front of the court house to rededicate the Stonewall Jackson Statue. This is the first of three events coming our way. The other two are next month so make sure you don't miss them.
"This is a great way to kick-off the event. We have great weather for people to come out. It's a great way for the community to come out and enjoy what the city has to offer and really to celebrate the past history in the city of Clarksburg," said Martin Howe, City Manager.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin was one of the guest speakers. And right before the kick off ceremony, he made an announcement that the current DMV will be moving to Uptown Clarksburg just a block from the court house.
