United Hospital Center's Doctor Mark Povroznik made an emergency trip to the 5 News studio to stress the importance of being prepared for the flu. There are 47 states reporting widespread illness. There are about 1,400 confirmed cases here in the Mountain State, but that number is likely much higher.
On this segment we will discuss:
  • What is the flu situation here in West Virginia?
  • Officials are urging everyone to get the flu shot but some sources are reporting that this year's vaccine is only 62% effective, is that the case?
  • Why is it so important that people pay attention to this outbreak?
