When you're hungry there's nothing better than free food that's cooked for you. That's essentially what plenty of pancake lovers across the state were getting on Tuesday. For the eighth year in a row., IHOP held its "Free Pancake Day."
IHOP's all across the country were taking part in the eighth annual Free Pancake Day. The restaurants work to raise money for a Children's Miracle Network Hospital in their area.
Last year, this day brought in $3-million nationwide. All of the money raised at West Virginia locations and one in Kentucky heads straight to WVU Children's Hospital.
The way the day works is that any customer who went through the door can get a free short stack of pancakes, which is three buttermilk pancakes. The hope is that you donate what you would pay for these pancakes to the Children's Miracle Network at the boxes at the door.
The free pancake deal lasts from 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. The goal of this day is to thank patrons for their continuing service and to raise as much money possible for the children.
Miss West Virginia Kaitlin Gates was at the Bridgeport IHOP on Tuesday. The national platform for Miss America is the Children's Miracle Network. All title holders at local, state and national levels take part in Free Pancake Day.
