ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) - A judge who had a relationship with a Randolph County employee says three complaints have been filed against her since she reported the relationship to the Judicial Investigation Commission.

Randolph County Circuit Judge Jaymie Wilfong issued a statement to The Inter-Mountain acknowledging a relationship with Travis Carter, regional director of North Central Community Corrections.

He's been suspended by the County Commission pending an investigation.

Wilfong says she disclosed the relationship out of what she calls "an abundance of caution" and to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

Both Wilfong and Carter have spouses.

The judge apologized for the relationship and said she's working to regain the faith of her family and supporters.

Carter's attorney, Bader Giggenbach, says his client will cooperate with investigators but considers it a private matter.
