Doddridge County Sheriff's deputies said a teenager will be charged with three counts of first degree murder in the Labor Day triple homicide. They confirmed that the shooter is related to all three of the people police think the suspect killed Monday night.
Police officials aren't releasing much else but the Carolyn Bowie, President of the Ritchie County School Board, said one of their middle school teachers, Dixie Spencer, was one of the victims. Other reports said that her husband and their young daughter are the other two victims.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting at a house on Maston Road, off of Route 18 North, around 6 Monday night. When they got there, they found three people dead, all from gunshot wounds. At some point, their juvenile relative was taken into custody.
Everyone 5 News spoke to in the county was shocked to hear about the shooting.
"It was pretty upsetting, just trying to find out what was going on," said David Stewart, who lived near the Maston Road home.
"Terrible tragedy," said Stewart's wife, Sharon.
"Yeah, just tragedy. They seem like super people when we talked to them - the kids even, the ones we met and talked too," said David Stewart.
Sharon said "...they're a nice, church-going family. We talked with them, so we know that. Very, very nice people."
"It was very shocking. It was terrible. I think Doddridge County is just in total shock, total shock. I just really feel for all of them," said Darlene Smarr, of West Union.
The Doddridge County Sheriff's Department is still investigating. We will release more details to you as soon as we get them.
