Some local vendors are teaming up to bring a fresh popular culture experience to the Mountain State. The First Annual West Virginia Popular Culture Convention is coming to the Mylan Park Expo Center the first weekend in October.
The West Virginia Popular Culture Convention, also known as WVPOP, is founded by Jon Hayes, owner of comic book and specialty retailer Comics Paradise Plus in Fairmont. WVPOP is a convention spanning many of today’s most popular entertainment elements. Exhibitors, Creators, and Panels on Comics, Movies and TV, Toys, Anime, Manga, and Games will all be a part of this event.
“We’re very excited to bring WV Pop to life over the October 6-7 weekend,” said show promoter Jon Hayes. “Since we’re within easy driving distance from Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Richmond and so much of the Midwest, we look forward to welcoming collectors and pop culture enthusiasts from all over the place.”
Among those in attendance are Fairmont native and Morgantown resident, Robert Tinnell who is a motion picture screenwriter, director, and producer. Tinnell is also the author of several comic books and graphic novels. New York Times Best Selling writer Kyle Higgins, whose work includes BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM, SUPREME POWER, and DEATHSTROKE, will also be at the event. Various game tournaments will be held during the convention.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the Mylan Park Expo Center during the event.
