Some say the Fairmont community continues to lose some of its history, but one organization is celebrating what's left of it, through a local tradition. Main Street Fairmont unveiled this year's holiday keepsake ornament, which is an image of Fairmont Senior High School.

Every year, the organization releases a holiday ornament that shows a historical building in Marion County. FSHS is in the final stages of a major renovation project, which is similar to what Fairmont officials are trying to do in the downtown area.

City Construction Company was the prime contractor for the high school's restoration project, so it was fitting that they're also a sponsor for this year's ornament.

"We, two years ago, started on the project. We've been, not the only contractor there, but the prime contractor that has been involved in restoring the building. We were asked to sponsor it, so we were honored to be a part of it," said Beau Henderson, Project Manager for City Construction Company.

You can purchase this year's ornament at the following local retailers in Fairmont:
  • Adams Office Supply
  • Rider Pharmacy
  • Friendly Furniture
  • Main Street Shoppes
  • First Exchange Bank
  • BB&T Bank
  • Mon Valley Bank
  • Wesbanco Bank
Ornaments cost $20 each and all proceeds will go towards the continued revitalization of downtown Fairmont.
