Member of WVU ROTC Program: I Don't Think Much Will Change

Thursday afternoon Leon Panetta, US Defense Secretary, made it official.

He announced the military is going to lift its ban on woman serving in combat roles.

Word got out Wednesday that Panetta had lifted the military's ban on women serving in combat.

A rule was modified in the mid 90's that effectively barred women from troops of about 700  or lower.

Women have actually been in a number of combat positions since then.

Colleen Cooper is a junior at West Virginia University, and a member of the ROTC program. She said she was shocked when she heard the announcement.

She said she thinks that the move to lift the ban is a good thing, but she just questioned how much it would do.

"I think it will help them (women) for other opportunities through the military," Cooper said. "Since women have been doing similar jobs it's not going to change much."

The services have until January 2016 to implement the changes.

I don't think much of the idea of a daughter serving in a combat role, but I'm very certain that the Muslums will absolutly love the very thought of it.............I understand they are running short on virgins over there , since they have had to resort to claiming girls as young as 10 to 11 years old.......
