You may remember last year's St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Morgantown got a little out of hand, but police and firefighters took some extra pre-cautions this time around. While authorities were extremely busy this weekend they say things weren't nearly as bad as they were a year ago.
Police did issue numerous citations for things like underage consumption, open container, and loud parties, but unlike last year firefighters tell us they didn't have to deal with too many fires and things were much quieter than what they expected.
"I think they had a couple calls. I heard a dumpster fire go out at one point about 2 am or something. Other then that I didn't hear a whole lot from the fire departments," Captain Shawn Alt of the Star City Fire Department told 5 News.
Authorities also told us they expected last night to keep them the busiest even though the holiday was today.
