Morgantown has a new interim city manager. Deputy City Manager Jeff Mikorski was named by city council Tuesday to fill the post for six months starting on February 2nd.

How the search for the permanent city manager will take place has not been discussed, but Mikorski told 5 News that he intends to be a candidate for the position. Mikorski was a finalist when outgoing City Manager Terrence Moore was selected for the job in late 2010.

Mikorski said he's eager to continue current projects such as the budget, airport development and more.

"It'll be an easy transition. I'm hoping to continue to work with a great group of department heads and continue the great work we've been doing," said Mikorski who has been with the city for 12 years.
