The Harrison County Board of Education will be adding police officers to two high schools during school hours.
The Board of Education discussed an agreement with the Clarksburg Police Department to place an officer in the Alternative Learning Center. The board is also working on a similar arrangement with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department to place a deputy at Liberty High School. These positions will not be considered Prevention Resource Officers because those positions require special training. But the board did see the need for a law enforcement presence at the schools.
The Sheriff's Department will help out at Liberty High due to a staffing shortage within the Clarksburg Police Department. All five Harrison County high schools will have officers within their buildings with these additions.
