Even though students are off school for the holidays, those in charge of their education were all together in Bridgeport Friday afternoon. Newly appointed State Superintendent Dr. James Phares was leading a discussion about the hot topics for the school boards.

He invited the superintendents from across the state and RESA directors to the debriefing to talk about things before the next legislative session.

Some of the hot topics included the recent audit, a balanced assessment and other things that would be important to law makes during the upcoming legislative sessions. Dr. Phares laid out a lot of facts about what's going on in the school system and he gave the superintendents the opportunity to voice their concerns about certain things. Some of the concerns vary across the state while others are similar for superintendents regardless of where they're located.

Dr. Phares also talked about his philosophy and things that will be coming up for the schools in the near future.
