Every year, hundreds of people head to the woods for the start of buck gun season.

But, before they get there, they typically stop at local hunting shops.

Between the guns, ammo, and other supplies, this is the busiest time for these stores.

"Pretty much, you do your year is pretty much summed up in the two or three months of hunting season from September to November, that kind of makes or breaks your year," said Brice Cogar, owner of Hunter's Haven.

At places like Wheeler's Guns and Ammo in Elkins, workers see all sorts of people come in and out in the days before hunting season.

In fact, the weekend before it starts is the busiest time at the store.

"They get all psyched up the last few days before hunting season, and it's a good part of our business," said Jim Wheeler, owner of Wheeler's Guns and Ammo.

Not only are the hunters from around here, they're also from out of state.

"There's a lot of people from Ohio, Pennsylvania, we'll see the eastern panhandle, we'll see a lot of them come over here," said Cogar.

No matter where these customers are from, one thing holds true...guns and ammo reign supreme in the area this time of year.

"Lots of guns and lots of ammo. Of course, some accessories, but that's the main thing. We sell guns everyday," said Wheeler.
