The following is a press release from the Morgantown Police Department:
On February 14, 2013 at approximately 2:38 am Officers of Morgantown Police Department observed a white BMD being driven the wrong way on High Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the operator of the vehicle refused to stop for the marked police cars, lights and sirens.
The driver of the vehicle continued driving in the downtown area and turned onto Spruce Street and then onto Willey Street. Officers observed the driver of the vehicle fail to stop at the red light at the intersection of Willey and High Streets. Additional Officers responded to the area and the vehicle was eventually stopped on Falling Run Road near Yoke Street. The driver of the vehicle was arrested without further incident and identified as Megan AMORY, 23 years of age of Hurricane West Virginia. AMORY was charged with fleeing in a vehicle while DUI (.201).
The Morgantown Police Department is committed to its goal of eliminating crime in our city. Citizens are encouraged to become a “Partner in Policing”, by reporting suspected criminal activity to Morgantown Police Department Switchboard at (304) 284-7522.
