The WDTV 5 News team has partnered with folks from "Thank The Monkey". What on earth is that you ask? It's a new smart phone app that you may find yourself going bananas over.
It launches Monday, right here in North Central West Virginia. We're in the middle of a mobile revolution, and this brings mobile technology and shopping directly to you. The app can be downloaded free on any Apple of Android powered phone, and will save you money.
You can pull up coupons, website links, phone numbers, directions, and much more to local restaurants and merchants. You can even share what you find on social media sites with your friends.
"People are addicted to their Smart phones. People like to save money. So, what we're doing is bringing local coupons to the mobile device. So that their coupons are with them, whenever they have their phone with them. Basically, you redeem the coupon by showing your phone," said Jim Matuga, Founder of "Thank The Monkey".
The app designers are based out of Morgantown, so they're launching the app here first. They plan to be in 25 different areas in the next year.
