UPDATE: Convicted Murderer Charged with Attempted Homicide

A convicted murderer and sex offender is back in jail, facing attempted homicide charges.
On May 13th, police said Joseph Allen Garrett, 49, fired a shotgun at four people in Haywood, threatened one of them with a knife, and threw tools at them. One of those people was hit by with a pry bar. Garrett then tried to hit two of them with his truck.
Garrett's truck ended up hitting an ATV, pushing it into a residence, and causing thousands of dollars in damage. Garrett then fled the scene.
He was captured on May 31st in Lucinda, Pennsylvania, and was extradited back to West Virginia on Thursday.
Garrett was convicted of second degree murder in 1998, and third degree sexual assault in 1988. Both crimes happened in Marion County.
Garrett is currently in the North Central Regional Jail under a $193,000 bond.
