An investigation is underway after someone tried to rob a Monongalia County bank with a backhoe.

State Police said they responded to the Huntington Bank on Cheat Road just before 4:00 a.m. Friday morning. The ATM had been ripped out of the bank and the backhoe was nearby.

Police believe the suspect may have taken the machine from a nearby parking lot. The suspect then used its boom to rip the ATM from the wall.

No word on if any money was stolen.
