UPDATE: (6/13/14, 3:00 P.M.)

According to West Virginia State Police, the person who tried to steal an ATM in Morgantown by using a backhoe didn't get away with any money. Investigators are saying they're still searching for the suspect.

Bank officials believe a replacement ATM might be in place as early as June 18.

ORIGINAL: (6/13/14, 10:00 a.m.)

An investigation is underway after someone tried to rob a Monongalia County bank with a backhoe.

State Police said they responded to the Huntington Bank on Cheat Road just before 4:00 a.m. Friday morning. The ATM had been ripped out of the bank and the backhoe was nearby.

Police believe the suspect may have taken the machine from a nearby parking lot. The suspect then used its boom to rip the ATM from the wall.

No word on if any money was stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Morgantown at (304) 285-3200.
