CHARLESTON, W.Va (WDTV) - West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources officials reported 54 new cases of COVID-19 in the Mountain State Tuesday evening.

That brings the total count to 6,173.

A total of 119 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in West Virginia Tuesday. DHHR officials reported 65 new cases Tuesday morning.

The state’s 109th, 110th and 111th deaths were also reported. The patients were a 77-year old female from Mercer County, an 87-year old female from Mercer County and a 60-year old female from Preston County.

“We are deeply saddened by this news, a loss to both the families and our state,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.

DHHR officials reported a total of five COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday.

As of 5 p.m., there have been 269,704 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 6,173 total cases and 111 deaths.

DHHR officials say 1,581 cases are currently active and 4,481 people have recovered.

According to data from DHHR, 94 patients are hospitalized. Fifteen patients are on ventilators, and 37 patients are in ICU.
