Former WVU RB Smallwood Signs One-Year Deal with Steelers

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Former Mountaineer running back Wendell Smallwood has signed a one-year deal with the Steelers.

Smallwood played in 15 games for Washington last year, totaling 81 rushing yards and 64 receiving yards. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Eagles, and played his first three seasons in Philadelphia. With the Eagles, he recorded 850 yards on the ground and five touchdowns.

At WVU from 2013-2015, Smallwood averaged 5.8 yards per carry, rushed for 2,462 yards and 12 touchdowns.
