MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - Morgantown’s Sharron Young has been making a name for himself this summer.

The rising sophomore guard received his first Division I offer from Drexel after an impressive freshman season with the Mohigans where he averaged nearly eight points, four rebounds and three assists per game. Young helped MHS to a runner-up finish this year in the first-ever Class AAAA State Tournament.

Drexel’s head coach is Morgantown High School alum Zach Spiker. He led the Dragons to their first NCAA Tournament appearance last season since 1996.

Young has also made a splash in the offseason. He plays for a summer team called “Easy Street Family” based out of Pennsylvania. He is joined on the team by other local players such as Fairmont Senior rising sophomore guard Zycheus Dobbs. The team plays numerous out-of-state opponents in national tournaments hosted in cities as big as Philadelphia.

Young received his first college offer in April from WVU Tech.
