Fairmont Family Fund provides rent and mortgage relief
FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) - More than $35,000 has already been given out through the Fairmont Family Fund during the month of June.
The program, coordinated through Tygart Valley United Way and City of Fairmont, provides relief for rent, mortgage or utility bills for those struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cares Act provided $100,000 directly to families.
While the program is open exclusively to Fairmont resident households, Program Manager for the United Way Chris Yost says that if you own your home, a lot of places cannot help.
“We are the only place in Fairmont that can directly help with mortgage assistance. This program runs until either June of 2022 or until the $100,000 runs out,” said Yost.
