South Harrison’s Thomaschek Named Bridge Sports Complex Athlete of the Week

Threw nine scoreless innings and led Hawks to two wins in section tournament

LOST CREEK, W.Va (WDTV) - South Harrison sophomore infielder/pitcher Josh Thomaschek has been named the Bridge Sports Complex Athlete of the Week.

Thomaschek threw nine scoreless innings in the Class A Region II Section I Tournament leading the Hawks to two wins on the mound and to the section championship. In South Harrison’s victories over Doddridge County and Notre Dame, he struck out 14 batters allowing only two hits and two walks.

In total, the sophomore is 6-2 this year with a 2.58 ERA. At the plate, Thomaschek is batting .292 with nine doubles and one triple.

His performance has helped the Hawks to a 24-10 overall record. Those 24 wins are the most in a single season in school history.

South Harrison will play at two-time defending state champion Moorefield in the Class A Region II Finals on Monday. First pitch in the best of three series is set for 6 p.m.
