UPDATE: 17-year-old arrested in connection to Mercer County shooting

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - UPDATE Tues. Nov. 22--An arrest has been made in connection to this shooting, and the victim has been identified. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Dept. (MCSD) arrested a male, 17, on Mon. Nov. 21.

The victim has been identified as Marquise Mclean, 35. He was from Thomasville, NC, but had resided in Bluefield the past few years, according to the MCSD.

The teen who was arrested is being held at the Gene Sparado Juvenile Detention Center in Mount Hope until a preliminary hearing can be scheduled.


Original story--Thurs. Nov. 17: The Mercer County Sheriff’s Dept. responded to Mercer Mall early Thursday morning after they received a phone call of a male lying unresponsive in the parking lot of Sauced and Loaded.

When police arrived a little after 2:30 a.m., they found the male with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have ruled this a homicide but believe this to be an isolated incident.
