Josh Croup

Josh Croup started at WDTV in May 2018. He anchors First at 5, 5 News at 5:30 and 5 News at 6 weekdays and covers the news of the day in North Central West Virginia.

Josh began his time at WDTV as the weekend anchor and covered Marion and Taylor counties during the week. He started anchoring weekdays in June 2019. Josh covers breaking news, politics, education, business, economics, crime and anything else that makes headlines throughout the week.

He also covers the food scene in North Central West Virginia every week on Tasty Tuesday. The segment won the 2019 Associated Press Virginias Broadcasters award for Best Specialty Reporting. Josh also won the 2019 Associated Press Virginias Award for Best Reporter and the 2019 West Virginia Broadcasters Association award for Best General Assignment Reporting.

He was born and raised in Butler, Pennsylvania and went to school at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in broadcast reporting with minors in public relations/advertising and broadcast production.

Josh has been nominated for two Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards and won the 2017 distinction in the college/university talent category. While at Point Park University, he served as the editor-in-chief of the student-run newspaper and news/sports director of the campus television station. He also worked with the campus radio station, Athletic Communications Department and Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing.

He previously worked for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins, AT&T SportsNet, WQED and the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business.
