Mariah Congedo is one of the new faces on our 5 News team. Mariah started reporting in May of 2018 and will be covering the Monongalia and Preston County areas.

Mariah was born and raised in Pittsburgh, but has found a love for the wild and wonderful West Virginia. Mariah graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a B.S. in broadcast journalism and a minor in communication studies.

While attending WVU, Mariah was given the opportunity to be part of the Emmy Award Winning WVU News team. During her time with WVU News, she was named the co-anchor as well as the nonprofit/senior citizen reporter. Mariah found that both her passion and skills grew tremendously from this class. Prior to WVU News, Mariah interned for Fox19 Now in Cincinnati, OH. There, she learned what it was like to go out with reporters and find newsworthy content in a limited amount of time. Mariah enjoyed the thrill of a ‘go, go, go’ job!

Aside from forming her dream career in college, Mariah was a four-year member of the WVU Dance Team. As a member of the dance team, Mariah performed in front of thousands at the WVU men’s/women’s basketball games, football games and at the annual national collegiate competition in Florida. She also served as a captain of the team her senior year.

When Mariah isn’t out catching news stories, she can be found dancing, hanging out with friends and binge-watching Netflix. Mariah also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. If you have any story ideas, please feel free to email her!
