Robert C. Byrd Aerospace center hosts civil air patrol competition

MARION COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - Squadrons from Clarksburg to Charleston came out to the center for a full day of testing including written and physical fitness tests.

The squadrons were able to use the entirety of the aerospace center and it's classrooms for the competition.

Leaders behind the competition say the program helps teach it's members to be better citizens.

"The civil air patrol in general teaches the kids responsibility, teaches leadership, and all the qualities you want to have in future citizens," said Col. Dennis Barron, director of the cadet programs for West Virginia civil air patrol.

The winner of the competition will go on to compete in regionals.
