3 people trapped in Raleigh County mine found alive

CLEAR CREEK, W.Va. (WSAZ/ AP) --

Three people trapped since the weekend in an underground coal mine have been found alive, the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety & Training says Wednesday night.

The agency says efforts are underway to bring the three people to the surface of the the Rock House Powellton mine in Clear Creek. That's in Raleigh County.

They will then be transported for medical treatment.

The missing have been identified as Erica Treadway, 31, Kayla Williams, about 25, and Cody Beverly, 21. A fourth person, Eddie Williams, 43, safely came out of the mine on his own Monday night.

A news conference is expected at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department.
