UPDATE: Fairmont murder suspect turns himself in

A man wanted for murder out of Marion County turned himself into the Morgantown Police Department early Friday morning.

According to MPD, 25-year-old Christopher Keldo surrendered to officers shortly after 12:30 a.m.

A manhunt was underway for Keldo after the shooting death of 27-year-old Justin KaShawn in Marion County.

The suspect and victim in Wednesday's murder have been identified.

Police are searching for Christopher Keldo, who also goes by Chris Kavali, Kavali Rose and Tyrone Cutler. Keldo, 25, of Morgantown, is being charged with 1st-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Justin KaShawn, of Fairmont.

Officials say Keldo also has connections in Maryland, Virginia and South Carolina.

The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon on Hawthorn Street. KaShawn passed away before emergency crews were able to get him to the hospital.

A vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting is now in police custody.

Police are searching for the person that shot and killed an approximately 27-year-old man outside a home in Hawthorn Street at around 12:48 Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the suspect was seen driving a 2011-2017 silver Hyundai Accent sedan (seen above). Investigators believe the murder was a targeted shooting. No witnesses have been identified. If you know anything, you are asked to contact Fairmont Police.

Officials say the victim passed away from his injuries before making it to a medical helicopter.

Police say the victim was not from West Virginia, and was staying at a home near where the shooting took place.

Officers say Fairmont State University and Fairmont Senior High School were notified about the shooting but it was not believed that either school was in danger.
