A group of about fifty people stood outside Senator Manchin's Fairmont office with homemade signs urging him to vote no on Kavanaugh's nomination.

The rally was formed by activist group Marion County Indivisible. Those in attendance said Manchin shouldn't support President Trump's Supreme Court nominee because it isn't whats best for our state.

"In general I just don't think from what I have heard, and what I have read, that this man would be in best interest of West Virginians if he were given a lifetime position on the highest court." Fairmont resident Sarah Hensley said

Senator Manchin released a statement in response to the protests that reads:

"I am listening to West Virginians and getting input from all sides on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. I take the feedback I get seriously and will use it to make the best decision I can for the people of our state. I would not be representing the people of West Virginia responsibly if I blindly supported or opposed a nominee right after they were announced. This nomination is bigger than partisan politics, and deserves the careful consideration a Supreme Court vacancy requires of it.”

Senator Manchin encourages West Virginians to send their thoughts to SCOTUS@Manchin.Senate.Gov or through his website.

The Senate vote on whether or not to confirm Kavanaugh's nomination is expected to happen sometime this fall.
