BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV) - A near record cold start to the day today with mid 20's across NCWV is followed by a much nicer afternoon. Sunshine early today will give way to clouds late this afternoon. A warm front lifting through the Mountain State today will provide some relief from the frigid cold over the past 48 hours. Temperatures will soar into the lower 60's for daytime highs.
Tonight, as a cold front approaches the area, it will bring some showers with it. Rain will be joining the picture by late this evening around midnight and will be continuing through the overnight hours. This time around we are not expecting any flooding from the rain, just a few showers overnight and into tomorrow. As a front sweeps the region early tomorrow morning, we could see a few flakes with temperatures in the 30's in the mountains. Rain should dry up by late in the afternoon tomorrow and sunshine returns Friday.
Much more seasonable air is on the way for the latter half of this weekend and into the start of the next work week.
