UPDATE: Man in custody after he allegedly fled from police

GILMER COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV)-- UPDATE 09/17/19 @ 10:34 a.m.
A man is in custody after he allegedly ran from police Monday afternoon. A BOLO was issued in Gilmer County for the man.

According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a call around 3:27 p.m about a man identified as Jody Stewart refusing to leave a property after being asked to leave by the tenant of Stalnaker Trailer Park.

The caller said that he refused to leave and was armed with either a taser or handgun.

When police arrived and Stewart allegedly took off running from the scene. Police say he was wearing a white t-shirt, white ball cap and blue jeans.

Stewart allegedly ran out of the trailer park and onto Sycamore Run Road and then went up the hill, according to the complaint.

Police say they checked the area and could not find him.

Police received a call that he was on North Lewis Street behind the old Ice Cream shop. They found him and arrested him.

A photo of Stewart was taken to the trailer park where he was identified by three people as the same man that ran, according to the complaint.

Police found a torch lighter that looked like either a taser or handgun in Stewart's back pocket.

Stewart first told police that he wasn't in the area. When police told him that he was identified, he admitted that it was him and he ran because he thought he was in trouble.

Stewart has been charged with trespassing asked to leave, brandishing a weapon, obstructing an officer and fleeing on foot. He is currently being held at Central Regional Jail with bail set at $8,000.

UPDATE 09/16/19 @ 5:10 p.m.
The BOLO that was issued in Gilmer County for a white man possibly armed with a hand gun or tazer has been cancelled, according to Heads Up Community.

The alert was cancelled at 5:06 p.m. Monday.

The man was located and is in custody with the Gilmer County Sheriff's Office.

The official emergency alert system of Gilmer County, Heads Up Community, issued a BOLO for Gilmer County Monday afternoon.

The alert was issued at 4:33 p.m.

The alert says to be on the look out for a white male 20-30 years old.

The man was last seen near the Stalnaker Trailer Park on Sycamore Road, according to the alert.

He was wearing a white hat, white shirt, blue jeans and brown work boots, the alert said.

The alert said the man is possibly armed with either a hand gun or taser.

The alert says to call 911 if you see this man.
